"This could be us" 03.02.2022

God kveld alle sammen!

Before you got to throw the wallball around today, you had to pay your dues on the rowing machine. The buy-in was a 6k, 5k, or 4.4k row and that is not an easy distance. Luckily you could split this up with your partner and take about 7 or 8 intervals. Now 7 intervals sound a lot easier to my ears than a 6k row. Once you got it done it wasn't so bad, and #mostfunwins so you might have even smiled while you were at it.

We had the seniors and teens working out today, participants to the "sunn & sprekk" got on the Inbody Machine, and participants of the pull-up course found their rhythm in beat-swings. All in all a nice and busy day with smiles and fitness. Just the way we like it.

On a side note, I'd like to take a few sentences to share my (un)wanted opinion on the matter of injuries. We do some very high-intensity training with sometimes very complex movements and we ask people from all walks of life to try this. Sometimes things go wrong, in or out of the gym, leading to discomfort, pain, and/or injury. I get it, incidents happen. If you were to approach taking care of your body with the same fanatism you do approach your WOD's, then it won't harm you to ask your doctor, therapist, chiro, shaman these next three questions.

  1. What is going on, what is the diagnosis?

  2. What options for treatment or healing are available?

  3. Which of those options, will suit me in my situation, the best?

Of course, you would like to know what is going on, or what fancy name there is for it. It also pays to consider how they get to this diagnosis. Was it a test, image or was just your story enough? What treatment options are available? Do you need surgery, can you keep moving, is there some alternative that might benefit you? You are not helpless, oftentimes there is a lot you can do to make it less of a burden. Think of sleep quality, nutrition, doing activities you value in life. Last but not least, what seems to be the best option for you right now. CrossFitters almost never like to be told to rest it, so what can you do? Can we help you adjust your training? Can you still move other parts of your body? Can you still come by for a coffee and a chat with your friends? Be critical about this! If your doctor, therapist, or chiro doesn't like to answer these questions or gets offended, chances are they aren't putting what's best for you as a priority on their agenda.

On to the topics that are more related to our Box. Elisabeth celebrated her birthday today! And we have todays' score!

Sleep tight, don't be afraid to ask hard questions, work out hard & fast and recover even harder!
